Mid-America Christian University Softball Bats Go Quiet in 6-0 Loss to Missouri Baptist

The MACU softball team had a difficult time at the plate at Bill Smith Ballpark on Saturday afternoon as the Evangels were held to a season-low three hits in a 6-0 defeat to Missouri Baptist.

GAME NOTES

  • Mid-America Christian struggled at the plate scoring no runs on three hits and committed a pair of errors while Missouri Baptist scored its six runs on 11 hits. As a team, the Evangels batted .136 (3-for-22) while the Spartans' hot offense led to a .323 (11-of-34) batting average.
  • Rachel Eggleston took her first loss of the season, tossing four innings and allowing five runs, four earned runs on seven hits, two walks and three strikeouts.
  • Chana Wolfe pitched well out of the Evangels pen in her first outing of the season, tossing four innings and allowing only one run on four hits with no walks and a strikeout.
  • Trailing by two in the first inning the Evangels were knocking on the door Cailey Parsells and Mikaylee Allen stood in scoring position with two outs. Spartans pitcher Alexandria Cafolla found her way out of the jam striking out Rachel Humburg to get out of the inning.
  • After Olivia Roberts' single in the second inning the Evangels were held hitless for the remainder of the game while having only two baserunners reach by way of walk in the third and fifth inning.
  • MACU and Missouri Baptist split the series after MACU took game one with a 2-1 victory at Ann Lacy Stadium on Friday.
UP NEXT

  • Mid-America Christian will travel to Winfield, Kan. for a two-game set with Southwestern (Kan.) on Thursday, Feb. 23. Opening pitch is slated for 1 p.m. at the Broadway Sports Complex.
