A pivotal fourth quarter turned the tide for the Langston University Lady Lions as they knocked off the No. 18 University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Drovers 76-66 on Thursday evening at Drover Fieldhouse.
Tied at 58-58 at the 6:45 mark in the fourth, the Lady Lions closed the game on an 18-8 scoring run to pick up their first win on the season over a ranked opponent. Langston improved to 14-11 overall and 9-10 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Veyoni Davis led Langston in scoring with 17 points, Ayasha Thomas finished with 15 and Hailey Jordan tallied a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Anyia Pride rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points.
Collectively, the Lady Lions hit 38 percent (19-of-50) from the field and finished 33-of-39 from the free throw line. Langston outscored USAO in second chance points (13-10), bench points (38-20) and fast break points (10-8).
