The Chris Wright era at Langston University got off to a roaring start as the Langston Lions dispatched Dallas Christian 94-48 in their season opener on Friday night at C.F. Gayles Field House.
The Lions roared their way to a 53-24 halftime lead over the Crusaders. In the opening half the Lions hit 52 percent (18-of-34) from the field and converted 14-of-19 free throw attempts while holding Dallas Christian to 42 percent (eight-of-19). It was much of the same recipe in the second half as the Lions outscored the Crusaders 41-24 en route to the 94-48 victory.
Anthony White led all scorers with 22 points off the bench, Tristan Harper added 21 and D'Monte Brown registered a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Cedric Roland rounded out the double-digit scorers with 11 points.
Langston (1-0) travels to face the Kansas City Roos on Wednesday, Nov. 2 in Kansas City, Mo. Tipoff time is set for 7 p.m. CST.
