The Langston University volleyball team opened their season with a split versus Missouri Valley and Tabor College on Tuesday evening.
In the opener the Lady Lions fought valiantly, only to fall 3-0 (17-25, 17-25, 18-25) to Missouri Valley. Leading the way in kills for Langston was Lauren Moore with nine, Allanah Drayton-Campbell registered 25 assists and three players registered double digits in digs. Samantha Clements finished with 13, Briana McDonald tallied 12 and Brianna Berry tallied 10.
Langston countered with a 3-1 victory (19-25, 25-23, 30-28, 25-18) over Tabor College to move to 1-1 on the year.
Braelyn Spence and Brieanna Owens finished with 14 and 10 kills respectively and Drayton-Campbell registered 43 assists on the night. Clements racked up four aces with 29 digs and Spence led the team in blocks with four.
Langston (1-1) heads to Little Rock, Ark. this weekend to face Harris-Stowe State and Lyon College on Friday, Aug. 26 on day one of the Philander Smith Volleyball Classic.
