Northwestern Oklahoma State will return to conference play Saturday evening after playing a mid-week game against Lone Star opponent Cameron University. The Rangers (4-3 overall, 0-3 GAC) match-up against the Savage Storm ( 5-3 overall, 2-1 GAC) with a tip-off set following the Lady Rangers game. 

The Rangers won their latest game completing the season sweep over the Aggies on December 13th 74-66. Northwestern was led by Brian Free scoring a season high of 23 points after knocking down five three pointers. He was joined in double figures by Shavaul Butters, Malik Parsons, Larry White, and Jason Douglas-Stanley. 

This will be the first of two meetings between the two teams this season as the Rangers look to snap their two game losing streak against the Storm. 

Northwestern is led in scoring by Parsons averaging 20.6 points per game this season on 50% shooting from the field. He is joined in double figures by Brian Free averaging 12.4 along with Larry White at 11.6 per game. Parsons leads the team with 3.3 assists per game for the offense. 

Defensively Northwestern is led by Butters in rebounding bringing down a team high 8.3 per game. White leads the team with 12 blocks closely followed by Butters with 11. Parsons leads the team in steals with 13 on the season with White and Kennedy Milton having 11. 

Scouting the Opponent:

Southeastern Oklahoma State enters the game winning three straight including their last time out against Oklahoma Baptist December 10th.

The Savage Storm are led by Kelly Green in his 12th season with Southeastern holding a 172-144 record since 2011. He is 13-8 in 21 meetings against Northwestern since January of 2013.

Northwestern’s defense will look to stop a balanced attack of five scorers averaging double figures. Jett Sternberger leads the team with 19.8 points per game as he is joined by Brennen Burns, Kody Clouet, Landon Condiff, and Kyle Leslie all averaging at least ten points. Burns leads the offense with 4.8 assists per game. 

On the defensive side of the ball Leslie is the leading rebounder with 6.3 per game. Clouet leads the team with six blocks on the season and is second with nine steals. Burns leads the team with 15 steals.

History:

This will be the 22nd meeting between the two programs as the Rangers look to snap a two game skid against the Savage Storm. The last Ranger win in Durant was in the 2020-2021 season with a 75-72 victory on the road.
