Montrez Ward’s 3-pointer with :1.5 remaning gave the NOC Mavs an 83-80 win over #17 Connors Monday night at Foster-Piper Fieldhouse.

The Mavs (4-16) improved to 1-6 in conference while Connors fell to 14-1 and 4-1 in conference.

The Cowboys led the Mavs 79-75 with :52.8left on two free throws but the Mavs countered as Jason Hunt scored on a traditional 3-point play to cut the lead to 79-78.

Campbell then converted a layup after a steal giving the Mavs an 80-79 lead with :33 left.  Connors then tied the game with :22.5 

The Mavs then held for the last possession with Mohamed Kante found Ward in the deep corner for the game winner.

The Mavs had the upper hand the first 15 minutes of the game as NOC built a 31-26 lead but Connors outscored the Mavs 14-2 to take a 40-33 lead into the dressing room.

Javontae Campbell led the Mavs with 227 points while Kante added 20, Hunt 15, and K. Randolph 10.
