Langston University Lady Lions Complete Comeback at Southwestern Christian

The Langston University Lady Lions picked up their first conference win of the season in thrilling fashion by outlasting the Southwestern Christian Eagles in five sets on Thursday evening.

The Lady Eagles led 2-0 after holding off the Lady Lions 25-21 and 27-25 in the opening two sets. Langston countered to tie the game with a 25-20 victory in the third set and a 25-18 victory in the fourth set.

In the final frame, Langston trailed 12-11 before they rallied with four straight points and sealed the victory on a kill by Brieanna Owens off an assist by Finehika Uhatafe.

Owens led the way with 19 kills, Braelyn Spence finished with 12 and Briana McDonald tallied 10 kills on the day. Uhatafe registered a season-high 42 assists, Samantha Clements tallied a team-high 27 dgis.

Langston (7-7, 1-5 SAC) hosts Wayland Baptist on Friday, Sept. 23. Opening serve is set for 7 p.m.
