As many of you are aware, there is an attic blast that is going to reach deep into our state.

Dangerously cold wind chills arrive on Thursday, December 22nd.

Falling temperatures, gusty northerly winds (gusts over 45 mph), and dangerous wind chills (-5°to -25° F) arrive on Thursday. Snow is also possible (trace to 2″) with the highest chance across north central Oklahoma on Thursday.

These dangerously cold temperatures will continue into Friday with some moderation into the Christmas weekend.

Now is the time to plan and prepare for the cold weather!

With wind chills being not only below zero but in the negatives, it is best to stay in doors. However if you must be outdoors, have on multiple layers of clothing. Use a light base layer and work up to a heavy outer layer to keep our wind and moisture.

Also limit your outdoor exposure time. Remember, frostbite can occur in 15 minutes or less at wind chill values of 18° below zero.

Remember to bring your pets indoors or provide adequate conditions for them to stay safe and warm in.
